Oklahoma City's Newest Cycling Destination
Scissortail Park is Oklahoma City's newest urban oasis, and it's quickly become a favorite for cyclists. This 70-acre park in the heart of downtown offers beautifully paved trails, the iconic Skydance Bridge, and a direct connection to the Oklahoma River Trail. It's the perfect starting point for a downtown cycling adventure.
The Park Trail Experience
The park's trails wind through landscaped gardens, past public art installations, and along the Oklahoma River. The 3.5-mile loop is short enough for a casual ride but connects to the larger Oklahoma River Trail system for longer adventures. The paved surface is smooth and wide, perfect for families, beginners, and casual cruisers.
The Skydance Bridge
The highlight of any Scissortail Park ride is crossing the Skydance Bridge. This pedestrian and cycling bridge spans I-40 and connects the park to the south side of the city. The bridge's striking design — inspired by the scissor-tailed flycatcher, Oklahoma's state bird — makes it one of the most photographed spots in OKC.
Perfect for Families
Scissortail Park is ideal for family rides. The park features a fantastic playground, open green spaces, and food trucks on weekends. The trails are flat, wide, and separated from vehicle traffic, making it safe for kids and new riders.
Connecting to the Oklahoma River Trail
One of the best things about Scissortail Park is its connection to the Oklahoma River Trail. Ride through the park, cross the Skydance Bridge, and continue onto the 13-mile river trail for a longer adventure. It's a perfect combo ride for a weekend morning.
